ya know.. it took me a while to actually find that skill.. until I
realized that vengeance of gaia wasn't actually a skill, but instead
a spell..
only furious bashing and avenging fury are skills, vengeance is
actually a spell... however.. it seems like both of those 2 skills
have different masteries.. so my guess would probably be for that
rare thing we give newbies called a "choice".. drumming limbs, I'm
guessing, is for those that like blunt weapons.. and whirling
branches.. I'm assuming, are for those that like slash-types..
just a bit of thought to munch on (mind you, I've never even played
this guild =) )

Two things to keep in mind on this issue. The first is that damage
skills that use woodsman weapons show varying damage scales
depending on what you are wielding at the time and what prots you
have up. You'll find that Avenging fury seems to do weak damage when
wielding only one blade, especially if you haven't raised your
Intuitive awareness. The second thing to consider is that the damage
scale the skill help shows is the amount of damage it does to the
first target only. Damage dealt to any additional target(s) is not
reflected in the skill help's damage scale, and it's assumed that
you're using the skill at more than one target.

Based on my admittedly subjective but obviously extensive experience
of the woodsman tree, it appears that all other things being equal,
and as long as you're hitting at least three targets, both Furious
bashing and Avenging fury do as much or more overall damage than
their single-target counterparts. I neither have nor want access to
numbers which back this up, but I'm sure that any other player
could, with some experimentation, come to a similar conclusion.

In short: The skill help damage scale is less reliable a source of
information for area damage abilities than it is for single target
abilities, and it never was all that reliable to begin with anyway.
